Three-year postdoc position in vitamins and lipids in ruminant nutrition 953153

Aarhus University invites applications for a postdoc position in vitamins and lipids in ruminant nutrition at the Department of Animal Sciences. The position is for three years starting on 1 February 2018, or as soon as possible.

Working area
The postdoc will be part of ongoing research on fat soluble vitamins and lipids with special emphasis on vitamin E bioavailability and utilization in calf nutrition. These studies include ways to compare the bioavailability of different sources of vitamin E, its utilization and influence on health and performance of calf’s.  Included is identification of biological parameters in blood and tissue as biomarkers for vitamin E utilization.
The candidate is expected to take part in teaching and supervision of students at the BSc, MSc and PhD levels.

Qualifications
• A PhD in animal science, biology, or similar.
• A good track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Documented experience in ruminant nutrition and physiology including that of the calf and strong analytical skills in the analysis of vitamins and lipids using high performance liquid chromatography and gas liquid chromatography.
• Good skills in communication of research results internationally as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience in supervising students and teaching at a high academic level will also be a merit.

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Formalities and salary range

Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
