Postdoc in Crop Health and Computer Vision 953849

Aarhus University, Science and Technology, invites applications for a 4-year postdoctoral position at the Department of Agroecology. Starting date as soon as possible.

Research area
The successful candidate will be part of a team working on image analysis of crops and other agricultural products. The images will come from cameras mounted on drones, tractors, implements, and instruments in the laboratory. The candidate will be responsible for image analysis and will collaborate with different scientists and technical personnel. The use of images to predict biomass, volume, different nutrients in crops, and seed quality parameters will be major focus areas. The studies will therefore involve both laboratory and field experiments and it is a prerequisite that the candidate has some experience with working with field experiments.

The candidate must have a strong background in computer vision. Experience within deep learning is preferable. The candidate is required to have experience with image acquisition using drones (preferable in an agricultural setting) and an understanding for its potential pitfalls. Experience with structure-from-motion or photogrammetry software to generate orthophotos and point clouds from acquired images is necessary.

Qualifications
• PhD degree within image analysis
• Research experience with image analysis in agricultural crops
• Documented experience in working with field experiments
• Experience in international research collaboration
• Interest and skills in scientific communication
