Postdoctoral fellow in in crop epigenetics and bioinformatics 924643

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University, Denmark is seeking a creative, talented and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with experience in epigenetics and bioinformatics in plants. The position is available from October 1st 2017, and is limited to a period of 28 months.

The focus of this project is to develop experimental approaches to understand in greater detail the genome plasticity in crops with large and complex genomes. It is hoped that this will generate a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying genotype × environment interactions that may be beneficial for long-term improvement of crop performance in less predictable climates.

The Section for Crop Genetics and Biotechnology possesses state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for undertaking the relevant research, and is a major center for research and education in molecular genetics, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics and next-generation sequencing and genomic selection in plants.

The section provides a very dynamic and internationally orientated environment with strong collaborations with relevant industrial partners and with several other leading international research groups in the area.

Qualifications and Specific Competences
• Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, molecular genetics, statistical genetics or related fields
• Ability to critically assimilate information from a number of disciplines (molecular genetics, biology, comparative genetics and statistics)
• Ability to design, develop and implement computational pipelines for analyzing genotype and sequence data
• Strong analytic, organizational, written, and verbal communications skills
• Ability to work independently in a large and diverse group of researchers, and collaborate with national and international research partners
• Experience with epigenetics in crops is preferred

Place of work
The Section is part of the Department for Molecular Biology and Genetics and is located at the AU Flakkebjerg campus. The place of work is Forsøgsvej 1, 4200 Slagelse, and the area of employment is Aarhus University with related departments
