Integrated Design Thinking

Would you like to translate your scientific discoveries and knowledge towards the real-world? Do you want to see if “Innovation” is something that you can do? Then maybe you need to add a new method/tool to your arsenal. It is called DESIGN THINKING. In the words of the Consultancy firm IDEO – that is credited with propagating the concept that was first coined in 1987 by architect and urban designer Peter Rowe.

Anyway, what will you get out if it? Design Thinking incorporates elements from topics – such as strategic planning, market research, marketing, psychology, creativity and innovation, emotional intelligence to name a few spread out in multiple phases. You will work on a pre-defined area close to your domain knowledge and learn to apply some of these tools. The Design Thinking workshops are offered for students and staff members.

  • The 4 phases will be offered over a 2-day period (20h). However, a few articles will be send out for reading before the course starts.
  • The specific challenge theme will be defined during the sign-ups, depending on the preferences and working backgrounds.
  • At the end of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Participation.

“It is great to learn tools such as these – that seem very different at the start but are actually very complementary to all the science we are learning here at iNANO anyway”
Participant from iNano

“Wow – I didn’t know Design Thinking was so widespread and that it can bring forward an idea to a visual prototype in a relatively short time”
– Participant from the Department of Food Science
